What is ReorientingReads.com?

ReorientingReads.com emerges as a public refusal to accept any attempts to limit the reach of trans, non-binary, and gender-expansive voices across Asian & Pacific Islander diasporas.

We refuse attempts to censor our livelihoods. Our collective is building a new community resource for lovers and learners of our stories.

This website serves as a living archive of writers past and present, provides teaching materials to educators, and connects curious readers to transformative writing.

Gratitude

ReorientingReads.com is an independent home for Asian & Pacific Islander diasporic trans, non-binary, and gender-expansive writing.

We are thankful for support from Asian American Writers' Workshop, Asian/Pacific/American Institute at New York University, Brew & Forge, The Circle for Asian American Literary Studies (CAALS), Kaya Press, Kundiman, Lambda Literary, Loyalty Bookstores, and Palah Light Lab at The New School.

ReorientingReads.com cites Trans Reads, NDN Girls Book Club, and Pacific Islander Books as inspirations.

Team

Currently, we’re a small team of volunteers: Ching-In ChenNoah Arhm ChoiChrysanthemum, River 瑩瑩 Dandelion, and Yanyi.

We convened in August 2023 after the abrupt cancellation of the 2023 Asian American Literature Festival. We welcome all writers who want to join us and collaborate! Get in touch with us at reorientingreads [at] gmail.com
